Day in the Life- Summer 2017

These posts are always so much fun.
I started and stopped taking pictures a couple of times before this day.
I've documented some things but not everything; however, I think this is as good as it gets.

By 7 am I was up and had the bed made.
I love making the bed first thing as soon as I get up.

I did my daily devotional and ate a banana to get ready to go run.

Stretching for my run.
I always stretch inside, and then as soon as I head outside I'm ready to go!
No turning back!

You know what's funny...
I have the exact same shoes for running outside as for working out indoors.
The ones above are older and a bit dirtier, but I love having a second pair for inside.

Here I am the day before all ready for my workout video.
After that I forgot about the picture taking.

It is HOT and HUMID right now.
This is no lie.
Real life sweating sweating sweating after my 4 miles!

I had to shower, and then I started on some baking.
Making my breakfast- and egg and cranberry juice and working on a freezer meal.

Watching my favorite morning show-Live with Kelly and Ryan!

The trivia part is ALWAYS my favorite!
Fingers crossed that we can get tickets for the show when we visit in October!

 Finishing up my freezer meal.

Then, I sat down and watched some Hallmark Christmas

while touching up my nails.

I was done baking and doing my nails and toenails, so I got ready for the pool.

I spent about 2 hours at the pool before heading home and getting ready for a late lunch with my co-workers.
We had some pizza and talked talked talked.

Then, I drove through the pouring rain home and made some cheesy potatoes while Alex grilled chicken.
I lost my mom's recipe, so I had to use a Pinterest one, and they weren't as good.
Boo!

I registered some books on Amazon to sell.

I made more hummingbird food.

Then, I deadheaded and watered flowers.
I love my flowers SO much!
I can't imagine a world without flowers!!

All three flower boxes out front.

I was watering flowers while Alex was taking in this view.
I have great childhood memories of fishing and out on a little flat bottom boat on this pond.

I cherished the last drop of light on the back porch by looking for fun ways to teach rules in a middle school classroom.
This pin right here speaks one of my co-workers.
Come to find out, he actually used memes last year.
#Daylatedollarshort

Do you guys have any fun ideas to teach 8th graders about the rules in my language arts classroom?!
A PowerPoint or just standing in front of them talking doesn't work these days.
I've found a cool reader's theater idea but am still looking for others.
Let me know if you have any.

So there you have it.
A normal summer day in my life.
Running, the pool and taking care of my flowers are normal Beth things!

Workin' It: Weekend in Your Life

Hey ladies!
It's a Workin' It Wednesday today with Erika and Shay.

The second Wednesday of each month these ladies share a new topic.
If you're interested in the topics so far this year or ones to comes, check out the graphic below.

This month we're sharing:

A weekend in my life!

I used this past Sunday, July 9 as part of my weekend.
Now that it's summer my weekends are pretty calm and boring.
During the school year I get caught up on cleaning, laundry and grading, but during the summer I have all day to do those things, so the weekend is pretty much like all of the other summer days for me!

I forgot all about taking pictures on Saturday, so Sunday was my go-to!

On Saturday it rained and rained and rained, so I did lots more cleaning and got to view these sweet things in between the rain.

Sunday started late.
I'm not used to sleeping in, but I woke up at 8:45!
I couldn't get a shower and get ready in 30 minutes, so I decided to watch church online while making eggs and toast for Alex and I.

I was in a hurry, as Alex was leaving to golf, so this is all I have of our breakfast-the dirty dishes!

I listened to church message, and then headed downstairs to do an upper body workout.
I've been loving various Pop Sugar Fitness videos lately, so I did another one of them.

Then, shower and water/deadhead flowers.

I spent a lot of time on the back porch working on a module for my Teenage Brain class.

While working on my class work I did two loads of laundry.

One of them went in the dryer and the other went outside on the line.
I love using our outdoor clothes lines, but I'm picky about my clothes.
I want them to feel soft and cozy, so I usually put clothes on the line and then fluff them up in the dryer.
These were Alex's work clothes and he doesn't mind them to be hard, but he wasn't home to catch me throwing them in the dryer to fluff them up for him!

After finishing my module, I planned out the next four courses that I want to take.
I've been loving Advancement Courses.
The course I'm currently taking is tough.
It's all about parts of the brain and what they control and how it influences teenagers.

Advancement Courses updated this course but sent me the old material.
Unfortunately, it's been a bumpy ride, but they have been so gracious and helpful in trying to get me the assistance I need.

After ordering a course, you have 6 months to complete it.
I love the flexibility with these courses and hope to take four more within the next year.

I spent some time in the dining room redecorating the table and some other areas.

I even grabbed a little nap in between Alex coming home from golfing and heading back out to the Indians game.

I made dinner for myself.

Then, I finished another great Holocaust book- Prisoner B-3087.

I took this book and a magazine I recently finished to the library drop-box and headed out on my bike to see my parents.
I enjoyed a good bike ride, and then re-potted a flower did some upkeep on my flower boxes.
For some reason we have earwigs really bad.
I've actually found a few in our basement near where our utility sink and washer/dryer are, but it wasn't until this summer that they've capitalized on my flowers.
Luckily I caught them before they destroyed everything, and now I'm on their game.

I got to talk to a relative and plan another summer getaway, and then I finished the night working on this blog post and watching Full House.

Day in the Life: First Edition!

Today I'm recapping a day in my life!!
I always love to read about what others do in a day, so I thought it fitting to chronicle one of my typical days.

Up and at it at 4:30 a.m.
I used to get up at 4 to get ready for work but since I cut my hair short, I get to sleep in until 4:30!!
I'm actually a morning person, so this time doesn't really bother me.

Fix my hair, and then head to the kitchen for some oatmeal and milk.

While eating my breakfast I have a little devotional time and watch the 5 a.m. local news.

Right before 5:30 I head out the door to go to work.
On this day it was quite chilly.

 Christmas music all the way.

Right around 6 I make it to school.
Look at all of the snow on this morning.

 Room 108 welcomes me!

On this day it was super cold inside.
I'm typically cold, but on this day I was SO cold!
My heater was blowing cold air.
I really did think the furnace might have broke, so I went to check with the janitor.
It was okay, but a little delayed I think.
I wore my coat for half of the morning.

 This was my 7 o'clock.
By this point I had been at school for almost an hour.
I love getting there early because nearly no one else is there, and I do my best work in the morning!

We had a debate in all of my classes on this day.
I wish I could show you how awesome of a job they did, but I will show you a couple yard signs instead.
Cores 1 and 2 were trying to determine if they could combine past and present stances of candidates to create the perfect president.
Each student chose a successful or unsuccessful candidate from the past and present to create a new candidate with a logo, slogan and yard sign.

My 10 o'clock looked like this with a little planning on Padlet.
If you're a teacher and haven't used Padlet, check it out!
It's like an online pad of paper.

I clearly got caught up the rest of the afternoon in our debates that I didn't take one picture.

Around 3 I headed home, and it was still pretty chilly.

About 4 I chose to workout in the basement on this day.
I alternate between running and lifting.
Sometimes I do a workout video, but on this day I did my own workout.

I did some computer work around 6

At 7 we went to a trails meeting to try to get hiking/biking/walking trails in our area.
The meeting was at a local church/preschool.
This is where I went to preschool and that's my same preschool teacher!
Awesome memories happened in that room!

On this night I got caught up in a Hallmark movie and didn't go to bed until super late.
I'm not a late to bed person, but I clearly was on this night.
