Show and Tell: Want, Need, Wear, Read

Hey ladies!
It's Show and Tell Tuesday and our first day back to school after Thanksgiving break!
Thanksgiving break seemed super long this year, which is always a nice thing, so I'm ready to get back in the classroom.

Andrea from Momfessionals has a linkup two Tuesday's a month.

Today's topic is Want, Need, Wear, Read

If you're interested in linking up later on or what to see what the topics were so far this year, check out the graphic below.

So I did some major Black Friday shopping for myself, so I'm really not sure that there's anything I want that I haven't already bought.
That sounds horrible, but I love a good deal and would rather buy it on sale now than wait and hope for it at Christmas.

With that being said, here are a few things that are still on my list...

Cabinet Doors
When we redid our living room we took down the built in cabinet doors.
After we painted them, they no longer fit, so we haven't had top cabinet doors since then.
I've asked and asked and asked for Alex to get new ones, and he said he was going to, but then the ones we were going to get they stopped making.
All of the door sizes are custom, so we have to find the right place to make them.
I'm really hoping Santa makes, paints and hangs these doors before Christmas morning!

I've had my eye on these pj's for a while now.
I wish they would go on sale, but they are super cute!

Belts!
I usually always wear a belt because they just don't make pants that fit like a glove for me.
These tend to wear out quicker than I think.
I love leopard/cheetah print belts, a good ole black/brown reversible one and a glitter one that I've found below.

I'm posting this because it's super cute even though every time I click on it, it is out of stock.

Love this cozy sweater.

Another super soft cardigan.
It comes in three other colors.

This asymmetrical fleece sweater is super super cute.
I didn't see it when I made my purchases, but I love the asymmetrical look.

I'm going to go ahead and list some books that I've just ordered for my classroom.
These are young adult books, but they look or are great!

Projekt 1065

This summer I read Prisoner B-3087
It's by the same author and loved it.
We are reading in literature circles right now in my classroom and Prisoner B-3087 was the top book selection.
I'm very excited to read Projekt 1065.

Turtles All the Way Down

If you're a John Green fan or have read Paper Towns or The Fault in our Stars, then you will probably like Turtles All the Way Down
Aza is dealing with the death of her father and is trying to find things to take up her time over the summer as her boyfriend is away at camp.
A former friend's father, who happens to a billionaire goes missing and Aza is determined to find him.

A Dog's Purpose

Some of my students have been suggesting this book for a long time.
It was on sale this month, so I snagged it in my cart, and am anticipating reading it and maybe watching the movie.

Winter Street Series

I've read about how great the Winter Street series is many times.
Finally, I decided to read them, and they are so good!
I've read Winter Street and Winter Stroll so far and am awaiting Winter Storms
They are Christmasy, cheery, predictable but such a fast read.

So there we have it.
Some things I want, need, would love to wear and am wanting to/or have read.
Can't wait to check out what everyone else has listed!

Show and Tell: Favorite Holiday

Happy Show and Tell Tuesday!

Andrea from Momfessionals has a linkup two Tuesday's a month.

Today's topic is your favorite holiday.

If you're interested in linking up later on or want to see what the topics were so far this year, check out the graphic below.

This was no contest at all.
Christmas is without a doubt my favorite holiday!

I have loved Christmas since I was a little girl.
My brother would sneak around the house looking for his presents, but I never wanted to find mine, let alone know what I was getting before the morning of December 25.

Some people, like my mom, find Christmas so stressful.
Presents to buy, cards to send, house to clean, cookies to bake, food to make.
The list goes on and on, but I love it!

There's decorating for the season.
If Alex would allow me, I'd decorate in early November, but he makes me wait until the day after Thanksgiving.
I love the glitz, glitter, greenery and twinkle lights that the season brings.

I love baking lots and lots of cookies.
There's no such thing as having too many cookies, and I enjoy a house that smells like freshly baked cookies!
One of my favorite things to do was bake cookies with my grandma.
I miss those days but still think of her when I have a dining room table full of cookies!

Christmas shows!
I'm not a fan of TV and rarely watch it, but I love Christmas movies and shows.
Last year I discovered the Hallmark Christmas movies and loved them!

Family time!
I love Christmas Eve at my grandma's and Christmas morning at my parents.
These are two long standing traditions that I remember doing every year since I've been born.

This is also one of the only times of the year that I would get to see our family who lives in NY.
I was so so excited for their arrival every Christmas.
I was even willing to ride my bike across time at any time of day or night, no matter the temperature just to see them and spend time with them.
My heart is so sad that I no longer get to see them each year since my grandma has passed.
My aunt would always make us play a fun game to enjoy our time together!

Joy!
Christmas radiates joy to me.
People seem happier, and I feel like the overall mood is upbeat and bright.
I love the optimism and hope that not only that day represents but that Jesus represents too!

Show and Tell: Reverse Bucket List!

Happy Happy Tuesday!
It's a Show and Tell kind of Tuesday!

Andrea from Momfessionals has a linkup two Tuesday's a month.

Today's topic is your Reverse Bucket List-What's Crossed Off.

If you're interested in linking up later on or what to see what the topics were so far this year, check out the graphic below.

I really had to start thinking about items that I've crossed off of my bucket list.
After thinking about this, I think I need to start an actual Bucket List where I cross items off as I go.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I had a list like that one time, but I'm not sure where it is, so I really should find it.
Here are some items that I'm sure were at one time on my Bucket List:

Run a Marathon

First I dreamed of running a half, and then after I ran several of those I got the crazy idea to run a FULL MARATHON!

This was no small task.
I decided to start training in the winter because I felt like that would be easier than training through summer.
Summer isn't terrible here, but my body doesn't do well in heat, so I know I'm best to run in cooler, even cold weather.
The winter I decided to start training was pretty intense.
We had A LOT of snow and ice.
There were a couple of days that I really couldn't even run on certain roads, so I had to come home and finish my runs on the treadmill.
That never happens!
I hate the dreadmill!
If I'm running on the dreadmill then you know it must be below -10 or super super slick out.

Running in the winter is actually my favorite season to run.
I love bundling up, lacing up my shoes and running in the middle of the road during a snow storm.
I did just that many times throughout my training, and then my body just said "NO!"
Pre-race I hadn't run for 5 weeks!!
5!
My body had had enough, so I cross trained before the race, which made me a nervous wreck because I believe the best way to prepare for a race is by running not biking or being on the elliptical.

I made it 26.2 miles!
I refused to give up!
I made it to the finish line!
Thanks to this sweet pacer who helped me make it to the end as I was dwindling come mile 22.

It wasn't the time I wanted, but I did make it.
One day I hope to run another one; however, I'm a bit hesitant as it messed up my knee, and basically from all of my years of running I have thinning cartilage that really can only be fixed by surgery, and I'm not interested in that.
So, for now, I will continue with enjoying the regular ordinary daily run!

Get Engaged in NYC

I would be amiss if I didn't mention that I definitely secretly wanted to get engaged in NYC.
Alex played it off like he wasn't going to propose there, but after nearly running through Central Park, we made it to a rock near Sheep Meadow and he popped the question.

Here we are at a waterfall where he was going to propose; however, there were too many people around.

Get Married on the Beach

I always dreamed of getting married on the beach, and even better yet getting married beside clear water.
All of my dreams came true in Marathon, Florida.
The Courtyard Marriott was BEAUTIFUL!
Here it is a year and a half ago.
My understanding is that it's still standing and open for business.
Just one key later- Big Pine Key appeared to be pretty battered.
I enjoyed the Keys so much; we've even been back once more since our wedding.

Go On a Cruise

We've now been on two cruises.
One for our honeymoon and one for a summer getaway.
One was on Royal Caribbean and one was on Carnival.
Both were Caribbean getaways, and we figured out that we ARE cruise people!
We loved our cruises and are planning a third at the moment!

Visit Mexico

Last summer we got to take our first trip to Mexico with a group of friends.
It was beautiful, and we'd love to go back again.
While I think it's on our list, we have another tropical location on tap for next summer.

Still awaiting my Bucket List are:
Have babies
Visit the Live with Kelly show
Go on a carriage ride in Central Park
Run in Central Park
Go on a Norwegian Cruise
Go on an Alaskan Cruise
Visit Paris

The list is still waiting, and hopefully some of those items will be crossed off sooner rather than later!
I can't wait to check out everyone else's posts to see what all I forgot.
