Girl Chat: Reintroductions

Happy Thursday!
I'm really hoping that by the time you are reading this that I'm back at work/school.
We were let out of school (It was a day full of meetings) early on Friday because of the potential freezing rain/sleet.
I got home just in time because it indeed did come down as freezing rain!
We then proceeded to get 8 inches of snow on top of that.
They weren't able to clear the roads and there was still the layer of ice underneath it all, and then it snowed again Monday night another 3 inches.
So, we have about a foot of snow with a layer of ice underneath.
Let out early on Friday, the weekend, MLK Jr. Day off, Tuesday and Wednesday off and I'm ready to be a working person again!!

I'm linking up with five sweet ladies to do some reintroduction's.

Welcome!
I'm Beth!

27 year-old wife, teach and travel agent.
I'm an old soul at heart.
I'm old fashioned in many ways but love to keep up with the latest trends.

My husband, Alex and I were married in the Florida Keys a year and a half ago.
We wanted a beautiful beach wedding, and we got just that.
We have enjoyed redoing our home and traveling to new places.
This summer we are already slated to return to Mexico twice and might even sneak in a cruise before the year is out.

This is my 6th year teaching 8th grade language arts.
Come on in!

I graduated with a 6-12 ELA license, and then got my masters degree in Teacher Leadership.
Even though I'm licensed to teach 6-12, I can't imagine leaving 8th grade.
I love the crazy hormonal students.
One minute they are laughing and the next they are crying.
They keep me on my toes and bring a smile to my face!

Last summer I followed my dreams and signed up to be a travel agent.
With planning my own destination wedding and visiting various new places, I decided I enjoyed the planning stages of travelling.
The best thing about the host agency that I'm under is that it doesn't cost people more money to use a travel agent.
The supplier pays that host agency who in turn pays me.
It's be overwhelming and exciting finding all kinds of new adventures!

In my free time I'm typically planning lessons, blogging, cooking, baking, reading, running or gardening.
I love being outdoors and hate watching television.
To describe myself in pictures, skim through the ones below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Back to School Q&A

Hey all!
I hope you had a great extended weekend!

It was so nice to sleep in and get some things done around the house.
We went shopping and out for lunch on Saturday to celebrate getting old-turning 27!
The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning, decorating for fall and just enjoying life.

Yesterday I read Allie's awesome Back to School Q&A.
I decided that I liked it so much that I would post mine today.

1) Did you love school or hate it? LOVED it! I used to come home from school and play teacher in the basement. I loved it so much that I had multiple chalkboards, students desks and an overhead projectors in my basement!

2) Start school before or after Labor Day? Before. This year we started August 14! Yuck! But that just means all the shorter time until it's summer again!

3) Wake up: eager beaver or slow poke? Eager Beaver!! I love mornings and am ready to go as soon as my alarm goes off!

4) Favorite breakfast? Over medium eggs, cranberry juice and fresh wheat bread

5) Favorite cereal? NONE! I'm not a cereal person. I'm hungry an hour after eating it, so I just don't eat it.

6) School uniform or no uniform? I've never had a uniform and they're pretty lax on what we teachers wear to school now.

7) New outfit for first day or no? Nowadays we usually wear a staff shirt on the first day, but I typically have a newer outfit to wear. As a student I always had a couple nice new outfits to start off the year.

8) Walk to school or ride the bus? K-8 I rode the bus. 9-12 I walked through a field that had a little path mowed out of it and another block to school. I loved walking to school in the mornings. Sometimes I'd even end up with a little grasshopper on my shirt or shoes.

9) Backpack, tote, or messenger bag? I always had a backpack growing up, but now I have more of a tote. Last school year I made myself get a smaller tote, so that I would quite bringing home so much work. It's awesome because now I know that I have to get it done because I'm not working for 9 hours and then coming home to work for a couple more.

10) Eat school lunch or pack lunch? Packer! I find it so much cheaper to pack your lunch and the food it so much more healthier.

11) Remember the little milk cartons? White or chocolate? Chocolate!

12) Paper bag or lunch box? Lunch box!

13) Favorite thing to do at recess? Play house!

14) Favorite back to school supply item? Trapper Keeper- who remembers the big ole trapper keepers?! I die when I see my students carrying them around. They are just so big and bulky!

15) Chalkboard or dry erase board? Dry erase

16) Regular pencil or mechanical? Either or

17) Homework right after school or after dinner? Right when you get home!

18) Favorite after school snack? Fruit

19) Favorite after school show? Full House or Arthur

20) Favorite subject in school? Reading

21) Least favorite school subject? Science

22) Name of your best friend in high school? Kelsy

23) High school mascot type? Braves (Indian)

24) SAT or ACT? ACT

25) Favorite year in school? Sophomore

26) Class ring or no class ring? Another ring to replace a class ring because I knew I wouldn't wear a class ring later in life.

27) Attend or not attend high school reunions? We have yet to have one. Next Spring will be 10 years out of school! Wow I feel old!

Three Things: Get to know me MORE!

Recently I've been seeing a lot of people posting questions about themselves. I really liked this "3 Things" post that Emily and Sarah did, so I borrowed from them.
Today, you will get to know a bit more about me!

Three things I'd never give up

  1. Exercise
  2. Reading
  3. Drinking water

Three favorite vegetables

  1. Cucumber
  2. Corn
  3. Lima Beans

Three shows I watched faithfully from beginning to end

  1. None.
  2. (Yes I'm that lame and can't think of any show that I've ever watched all the way through. I'm a fan of Fixer Upper and Grey's Anatomy, but when it comes to watching TV verse doing something else or going to bed, I pick the latter two choices!)

Three places I want to visit inside the U.S.

  1. Chicago
  2. Boston
  3. Waco (Chip and Jo are the cutest!)

Three places I want to visit outside the U.S.

  1. France
  2. Turks and Caicos (Any and all islands are on my list!)
  3. Italy

Three things I always have with me

  1. Hair tie
  2. Writing utensil
  3. Snack ( They used to think I was hypogylcemic- I would black out if I didn't eat every few hours. Thankfully most of it has subsided, but I still always have a snack with me.)

Three things that are always in my car

  1. Hair Tie
  2. Hand Sanitizer ( I can't stand germs!)
  3. Library Card

Three most recent calls to/from

  1. Dad
  2. Alex
  3. Co-worker

Three most often used makeup products

  1. Sunscreen
  2. Mascara
  3. Gold Eye Dust

Three things that make me laugh

  1. Alex's singing
  2. My students
  3. People who think they can run our country better than the president. I'm not political but wow it amazes me the hatred we have these days.

Three things that make me cry

  1. Death
  2. Illness
  3. Sentimental Items

If you made it to the end, hooray!
Thanks for stopping by to learn a little more about me!

Bridal Shower

A few months back I was showered with love at my bridal shower!

I couldn't imagine a more beautiful day or gathering!

Lucky for me, I'm nearly one of the only girls in our family, or girls who lives close by. My aunt put on an amazingly beautiful event with all of my favorite things!

Alex and I got engaged in November and on Christmas Day afternoon my aunt was drilling me with 9 million questions about how I wanted the shower to look.

If you know me, you know I like things to look nice, and I LOVE surprises! Seriously, this is a daily struggle because I want everything to look perfect, and I always love a good surprise! So, I had no idea what to expect when I walked into the bridal shower because they didn't want my help in advance. I was seriously blown away!!!

Look at that homemade arch with handmade paper flowers!

My mema graciously baked so many superb cookies!

I LOVE fruit!

Waffles and strawberry shortcake! Yum!

Because cupcakes are one of my favorites!

My hubby to be!

These flowers were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
I took one arrangement to school and spiced up my desk for a week!

Alex and I got married in Marathon, Florida this summer. I had never been to the Keys before, but we both agreed we didn't want a huge wedding and had always desired to get married on the beach.

Stay tuned for more pictures from our beach wedding!
