Tuesday Talk: Hangers

Hey ladies!
I took an unexpected blog break.
Life was getting super busy and something had to fall off my plate, so without even knowing it the blog fell by the wayside.
I'm back today and was so excited to see that it was Tuesday Talk because I need your help!

The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

You can blog about anything that's on your mind!

Today hangers are on my mind.
Every time I go to hang up clothes in our basement I remember how much I love and hate hangers!

If my closet was big enough I would hang every single piece of clothing.
Every little thing would have it's place, and I could simply gaze around my closet and pick out what I wanted.
Unfortunately, I'm not living that life right now.
Actually my closet is smaller now that I'm 27 than it was when I was 7.
What's wrong with that scenario?!
I hope one day that scenario will change, but for now I'm stuck with it.

At the same time that I wish everything was hanging on hangers, I cannot stand how intertwined those things get.

via
Just looking at that basket of hangers has me breathing deep!
I cannot stand tangled hangers!
You go to grab one and it won't even come out.

So I need ideas.
Right now I have some stacked in an organization bin.
I used to hang them on our indoor close line, but there are too many hangers and they weigh down the line.
How do you guys keep hangers?
What will help me keep my sanity and be able to easily grab one hanger at a time?

Tuesday Talk: Keeping/Organizing Receipts

Hey Ladies!
It's another edition of Tuesday Talk.
The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

You can blog about whatever you're interested in talking about and then linkup.

Today receipts are on my mind. Keeping and organizing receipts!

I'm not sure about you ladies, but I keep all of my receipts.
Every. single. one.

This drives my husband crazy.
He is the one who pitches things out the minute he's done with it.
This is why when one of our new plants died this summer we couldn't take it back because they said we needed the receipt and wouldn't you guess it Alex had bought that plant and the receipt was MIA.

So, I'm asking today, how do you keep your receipts.
Do you throw them in a drawer, in a basket, in the trash?
Do you organize them by month?
Do you tally them on a spreadsheet and then throw them away?
How long do you keep them?
1 year, 3 years, 5 years.

The older I get, the more receipts we get.
I have an accordion type folder that I keep them in throughout the year.

There is a little section for each month, but now I'm stumped.

Do I keep them in a bin until next year.
Do I throw them out?

Please please tell me how all of you supermoms do it!

Tuesday Talk: Hair Treatments

Today is Tuesday Talk!
The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

You can blog about whatever you're interested in talking about.

Today hair treatments are on my mind.

My hair is au natural!
Back in the day I had a perm, but other than that I've never had highlights or color.

I've always had the mindset of growing my hair out, cutting it, donating it and then repeating the process.

With this I sometimes feel like my hair isn't healthy.
I will got months without getting a haircut.
Usually it's to the point that I can't even comb my hair out when I schedule a haircut.

Since I workout or run daily, I wash my hair daily.
I use shampoo and conditioner every single day, and the water is probably hotter than it should be, but that's my routine.
I seriously could not go a day without washing my hair unless I sat straight up in a chair all day doing nothing.
I'm fine with washing it regularly, but I feel like it could be a little shinier or healthier than it actually is.

My aunt cuts my hair; she's the only person (besides my brother when we were little) to cut my hair.
To be honest, I'm kind of paranoid about someone else ever cutting it, but I think I could venture out and get a hair treatment for shine or something else to help make it healthy and be okay with it.

My aunt's schedule is super busy, and while I could ask for her direction or help, I don't want to bother her, so I'm asking you all.

Have you gotten any hair treatments that really seemed to be worth it?
If so, what did you get?
Hoping for some direction on hair treatments today!

Tuesday Talk: Holiday Meals

Today is Tuesday Talk!
The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

You can blog about whatever you're interested in talking about.

Today holiday meals are on my mind.

I've been planning our Christmas dinner meal since the summer.
I've tweaked it, adjusted it, deleted some items and added new items many times.

Now I'm interested in what you all make for Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner.
Do you have any tried and true recipes that your family requests year after year?

Last year we hosted our first Christmas dinner and while it was lovely, it was just too much!
We ran here and there all morning and day and then came home to try to make way too many dishes!

Unfortunately, the only images that I got of that meal were the three below.
Way to busy to snap many pictures.

This year I'm trying to keep it simpler.
I want to enjoy the day more than dreading all of the work that I have to prepare for dinner.
Last year I was literally sweating as I ran around the house trying to get everything in place.

So, this year I'm opting for an easier and more convenient meal.
As of now, I'm thinking of having a lasagna dinner.
Lasagna, salad, garlic bread, ham, Lima beans, pie, cookies, etc.

What do I need to add or eliminate?
What holiday meals are your favorite?
Any other holiday tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!

Tuesday Talk: Meal Rotations

Hey ladies!
It's Tuesday Talk around here!!
The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

You can blog about whatever you're interested in talking about.
It's that easy!
Blog about it and link up with the two previous ladies!

Today meal rotations are on my mind.

By meal rotations I mean the continuous cycles of meals that you eat throughout the year.
I know sometimes there are meals that I make based on that season, but I'm interested in starting a meal rotation spreadsheet to keep track of some of our favorite meals.

I know some people keep track of their favorite meals on paper and some make a spreadsheet.

I'm interested in gaining any and all ideas on how you plan out the meals that you are going to eat throughout the week and year.

Right now, I use my Erin Condren meal planner insert for each week.
On Saturday or Sunday before that week starts I sit down and write down what we are going to have. Usually I think about the meals the week previous, so that I can get anything I need at the grocery store prior to making the items.
I write out what we are going to have and then I either make it on the weekend or that night.

Right now that meal planning style is working; however, I feel if I had a spreadsheet of ideas to circulate throughout the year that it would make life even easier.
Before I go ahead and make that spreadsheet, I'm sure some of you have excellent ideas that I haven't even thought of.

Please, please leave any and all ideas about how you setup your meal planning rotations.
In addition, please leave any great recipes that would be a part of your meal planning rotations.
Thanks so much for your help!

Tuesday Talk: Freezer Meals

I'm joining in on a new link up today.
The third Tuesday of every month Ashley and Erika do a little Tuesday Talk.

Today Freezer Meals are on my mind.

This summer I've had a ton of time on my hands.
Usually I'm taking all kinds of summer classes and last summer I was moving my stuff to our home together.
This summer I'm taking two classes, but they are very relaxed and that's all I have.
Every single day is Groundhog Day for me.
I do the same handful of things each and every day.

While I do love it on one hand and know I will miss it when school starts again, I want to make sure that I'm capitalizing on these days.
Lately I've been thinking all about how I can make meal planning easier.

I've been frying and freezing ground beef and taco meat.

Last week I made three pounds of hamloaf and divvied it up into dishes to freeze.

Then, I made corned beef sandwiches.
It makes a lot, so we had some to eat and some to freeze.

I got bored and ambitious and tried out one freezer recipe from Pinterest.
Chicken, Broccoli and Rice Casserole

I'm contemplating making some lasagna and baked ziti to freeze this week, but what other freezer meals do you guys make?

I need a lot of help on this!
I don't even care if it's not a whole meal.
I feel like I should be making a ton of meals and freezing them, and then when school starts and I have unexpected meetings after school I can grab something out of the freezer and not have a ton of time and prep into making a yummy dinner.

Please, please, please leave all of your ideas!
If you have blog posts, please leave links to them!
I know Pinterest has a ton that I could scour, but I'd love to hear your tried and true advice first!
