Friday Favorites: Insta Drain, Yummy Desserts, Weekly Recap, Book Warehouse

Happy Friday!
It's good to be back home and in the swing of normal summer life.
As always, I'm linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea
We're sharing our favorites from the week.
Grab their graphic and linkup with your favorites from the week, too.

Insta Drain

This sounds crazy, but I've been trying to clear out the drains in our bathroom.
I've been using the DIY method of baking powder, vinegar and water, but it doesn't last too long.
While in the Amish Country there was an infomercial on Insta-Flo.
The man working also told me it was probably their best working product right now.
I'm not sure if he was being truthful or just trying to get me to buy something, but it worked.

I've used it once so far, and I feel like it helped a lot in the shower.
Now we have a farmhouse sink in the bathroom, and it doesn't have a regular type of drain, so I tried using it, and I think it cleared some of it out, but not all of it.

Do you guys have any products you use to unclog drains?
Not the most fancy question, but it's real life!

Yummy Recipes

I love being in the kitchen, and have enjoyed baking some yummy desserts this summer.
Earlier in the week I shared Shay's Lemon Bundt cake.
If you love lemon and want to try out the recipe, click here.

If you're not gaga over lemon, maybe banana is more of your jam.
Click here to find out how to make this scrumptious banana pudding recipe, also from Shay.

Sweet Summertime Recap

Yesterday I shared what I've been up to for the past two weeks.
A whole lot of sunshine, sand and the ocean.

The Painted Nest

I've been looking for a sign to go in our kitchen above our big kitchen window that looks over the backyard.
We have top down, bottom up shades, so I didn't want to get curtains.
I saw on one of Red Brick Mantle's Instagram pictures this pretty yet simple sign.

She got it from The Painted Nest, and I did too.
I wish it was a bit longer, but it works.
I love that it's not too rustic, and it spells out one of my favorite places to visit.

I recently saw a vertical one that was more galvanized that said Fresh Baked Pies.
I wish it were horizontal and not so rusticy, and it would be mine!

The weather is set to be rainy and cool for the next couple of days, so I'm up bright and early to head to a book warehouse sale.
Let's hope my drive is worth it.
Every book is $2 and below.
My classroom could use some new titles!

  2. I hope you aren't spending your own money on those books! If you have a Half Price Books in your area, they sometimes give boxes of books to teachers when they have surplus to donate. Have a great weekend!

    1. It was Half Price Books Warehouse Sale! We're really encouraged to have our own classroom libraries, which unfortunately means spending my own $!! I was there 45 minutes before it opened and still about the 100 person in line. Crazy busy, but I got some good deals!

  3. I've had a drain blaster for years, and it's a game changer. http://www.homedepot.com/p/VPC-Kleer-Drain-Opener-KD100/203001423 If the clog is bad, you may need 3-4 shots to clear the drain but you don't need to do it very often.
